White-tailed deer graze in the morning and evening. As herbivores, they feed on green plants and nuts. Deer live in small groups - usually just a mother and her calves. The males have beautiful antlers and live in small groups of three or four animals. Both male deer and hinds have red-brown fur in summer and gray-brown in winter. Since they hardly have any natural enemies, deer populations sometimes grow so much that they can no longer find enough food.
